OCTOBER 13  - DECember 15

Born in 1978, Davide Balula is a French-Portuguese artist who utilizes both natural materials such as microbes, sediments, and earth, as well as virtual networks to create his artworks. Resolutely oriented towards experimentation, his work combines a strong ecological awareness with a creative process that leaves ample room for randomness and sensitivity. For his first exhibition in a French museum, Davide Balula is creating a series of new works in collaboration with an artificial intelligence specially designed and nurtured by him. "Machine Water" acts here as a programmatic title and reveals the fluidity of our society, highlighting how technological advancements, including artificial intelligence, alter our relationship with reality, ecology, and the interaction between humans and machines. "Machine Water" provides a space for contemplating how our lives have become interconnected with these technological systems while reminding us of the crucial importance of maintaining ecological awareness in a constantly evolving world. Davide Balula's work has been notably exhibited at the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, the Schirn Kunsthalle in Frankfurt, and the MoMA PS1 in New York.
